Hey, this looks like a cool show. I wonder what it's about. Oh, I see. Genetically-engineered soldiers. Hmm, electromagnetic pulse. Yes. That makes perfect sense. United States as Third World Country. Interesting.
What's that? You've seen the show before? Hey, me too!
OC and Max chat about boys in The Bar. I guess it's the only bar in town, so I'm going to call it The Bar. Hey, did you know OC is a lesbian? Sketchy walks up and drunkenly offers them an "adult beverage." Max asks whom Herbal is talking to across the room. OC fills her in that it's some dude named Snuffy, who just got out of jail -- he and Herbal "used to be cellmates." Max didn't know that Herbal was in jail. Sketchy expositions that it was for "slinging the herb." Herbal and Snuffy walk over for introductions. Herbal explains that Snuffy needs a job, and OC promises to help. Sketchy takes a big mouthful of his drink and then blows it out over a lighter, creating a plume of flame. Hey, I think I saw that in a movie one time! Max announces that she's taking Sketchy home, and does.
Outside, Sketchy says he doesn't feel well, and Max urges him not to hurl. As they walk away, some guy with a long trenchcoat steps out of the shadows and watches them. When he moves, it makes a whizzing noise, like he's a robot. A kid walks out and drops a cigarette on the ground. The trenchcoat guy grabs him and orders him to pick it up, because it will lead to chaos where "all the windows are broken" and "obscene graffiti is everywhere." Isn't that pretty much what they've got right now? See, he's a bit crazy. The kid picks up the butt. The trenchcoat guy pulls a lens down from his hat and says, "I know what you look like," as we hear a shutter going off. So it's a camera. Okay, I'm going to call him "Crazy Camera Guy," or CCG for short.
In another part of the alley, Sketchy is puking while Max is holding him up. Some random punk comes up behind them and orders them to hand over their wallets. Sketchy says that he'll handle this, but the punk pulls a gun. Sketchy hands over his wallet, and the punk hits him, conveniently knocking him out so that Max can beat up the bad guys without revealing her super powers to Sketchy. Which she does. Meanwhile, CCG lurks nearby, taking pictures. He gets one picture of Max's face, full-on. As one of the punks tries to run away, CCG trips him and grabs Sketchy's wallet. Max makes sure Sketchy is okay. CCG hands her the wallet. Max turns back to Sketchy, and when she turns to ask CCG for help with Sketchy -- he's gone!
