Two for the Price of One

Last night, Len came back and wasn't willing to inflate his scores. I think if I were a judge, I'd want to be the Len/Simon Cowell version. It seems a lot more fun. Anyway, tonight we will find out who goes home, and if Tom DeLay is going to keep competing, or maybe he got eliminated anyway, or who knows? But it will all happen LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!

Tom voiceovers a recap of last night's dances. Joanna, Kelly, and Donny are singled out as getting praise from the judges. The rest didn't get praise at all, really. Tom was surprised to find out that the adrenaline surge helped cover the pain. And the top three were Louie, Mya, and Natalie, and Mya even got two 10s! But someone has to go home.

Who's going to get the encore? Len thinks we'll be surprised to hear who will be dancing tonight, because even though it didn't get high scores, it was entertaining. And the winner is... Chuck and Anna! Wow, really? Is this like when Adam Carolla got to do his unicycle paso again and then he went home? I doubt it; I think Chuck has a bigger fanbase than that, and his attitude is so great that I bet people voted for him anyway. Chuck is not at all a good dancer, but he's so game and he's kind of adorable in a "he could rip my throat out" kind of way.

After the break, Queen Latifah is there to perform her new single. She has had a really interesting career, from rapper to actor to jazz singer to now apparently pop singer. Cheryl and Maks dance to her song, and while the song isn't my cup of tea, their dance is great as always. Since Maks and Cheryl both got dud partners this season, at least from what we've seen so far, it must be nice for them to get to go out and dance to the limits of their abilities instead of having to hold back. And they do look like they're having a great time.

After reviewing the rankings, it's time to find out who is safe. The lowest scoring men (Tom, Chuck, and Michael) are on stage to find out if they are safe or in jeopardy. Tom and Chuck are safe, and Michael (and Anna) are in jeopardy. Tom Bergeron says that we'll find out soon if Tom DeLay can even continue in the competition. I would be pissed if I were voted out and then Tom quits. That's kind of bullshit.

Backstage, Samantha talks to some people, uselessly. Aaron says that he was upset after his dance because he felt like he let Karina and Len down. Debi says that she was frustrated because she screwed up her ending, and she had done it perfectly in rehearsals. Michael admits that his scores hurt him, but he did have fun out there. Tom tries to get Len to admit that he feels guilty, but hey, he's just doing his job.

Clip package on how the celebrities' first impressions have changed. Lessons learned: it's way harder than anyone thought. People are different than originally thought -- Tom DeLay likes rhinestones and Chuck is a teddy bear. Even though they are performers, the stars still got terrified when they walked out on the stage.

After the package, Tom DeLay announces that he won't be continuing in the competition, because he just isn't able to practice and that's not fair to him and to Cheryl. The crowd actually sounds sad. I guess I'm not in his demographic. Tom Bergeron asks DeLay to, if he's up to it, come back for the finale and do the dance he would have done week, the Texas Two Step.

Tom Bergeron announces that they'll still be eliminating a couple this week, and it's time to find out some more results. Mya and Natalie are both safe, but Joanna and Derek are in jeopardy. Derek makes the same face that Jenny Slate made when she dropped the f-bomb on live television last week.

And after the break, we get to find out if any of the four remaining men are in jeopardy. So that would be Donny, Louie, Aaron, and Mark. Donny, Louie, and Mark are safe. Aaron and Karina are in jeopardy. Aaron looks really surprised. God, I want him to go home. I really can't stand that little nerd.

Backstage, Melissa and Kelly talk to Samantha. Kelly reveals what was up with her kiss with Louis at the end of their routine. It seems that they dared each other to kiss, and Kelly knew that if she didn't kiss him, he would kiss her, so she took control. And the Melissa talks boring talk about being nervous.

The Design a Dance competition continues. So far we know that it's a Paso Doble to "Eye of the Tiger" and Tom reveals that the returning celebrity will be Sabrina Bryan. Wow, I totally thought it would be Gilles or someone more recent. Tom reminds us that Sabrina was eliminated kind of early; in fact, she was eliminated only two weeks after getting a perfect score. So I'm glad that she gets to come back and try again. I do wonder if the public will vote Mark for her partner, since they were dating and everything, and may have had a bad breakup. Guess we'll find out week.

The big dance number this week features Jabbawockeez. They do an homage to Gene Kelly's "Singin' in the Rain" number that features faux tap dancing and people floating down from the ceiling on harnesses and umbrellas. Near the end, two dancers come out in different-colored suits and at the end, they take off their masks and reveal that they are Lacey and Dmitry. That was a really cool idea, but the execution seems like it could have had more wow factor. I guess after the big Lion King number, my expectations are higher.

Queen Latifah is back to sing "Ease on Down the Road" from The Wiz. My brother's fourth grade class put on a production of The Wiz (Ambitious!) and my brother played Toto. Except he didn't tell my mom that she needed to come up with a costume for him until like the night before. Bad times. Luckily, we knew someone that had been a dog for Halloween and my brother just borrowed the costume, but I thought my mom was going to kill him, and rightfully so. Anyway, There are some people dancing along with the song. I kind of thought this might be a Michael Jackson homage, but they must be saving that for later this season. And you know Mark will be involved.

ADCP. Another dumb clip package. Steve Wozniak and Matthew Berry (Fantasy Football Analyst) claims that they can use mathematics to compute the winner of this season. But what Woz explains sounds a lot more like numerology. Did you know when Woz travels, he will only stay in hotel rooms that are prime numbers? I just ready Kathy Griffin's autobiography (which you should read too) and found out that tidbit. So Matthew's picks are Aaron and Natalie. Woz's picks are Donny and Mya. And then they have a toddler who randomly picks Melissa Joan Hart. Well, that was a waste of time.

Now Debi, Kelly, and Melissa will find out if they are safe or in jeopardy. Debi and Maks are in jeopardy once again. Kelly and Melissa are safe.

After a commercial break, the four couples that were named as being in jeopardy are gathered on the stage. That would be Michael and Anna, Joanna and Derek, Aaron and Karina, and Debi and Maks. Tom announces that Joanna and Derek are safe. Samantha announces that Aaron and Karina are safe too. I like that they keep harping on the fact that Aaron totally cried last night after his scores were revealed.

Samantha asks Len if he would like to see Michael and Anna or Debi and Maks return. Len thinks both couples did well the week that he was off, so they both have potential, and either one will be missed. Well, that was a non-answer. Finally, it's time to find out who's going home. And that couple is... Debi and Maks. Aw. I will miss Maks. Debi was kind of a disappointment. From the roles that she typically plays, I thought she would be more of a firecracker. She also reveals (when Tom asks) that her name is properly pronounced Ma-ZAR, not MAY-zar. week's dances are the bolero, the Charleston, the two-step, and the lambada. Wow, really? The lambada? I hope Chelsie and Louie don't get that one. They might start a fire or something. It's FORBIDDEN!
