Just then, the telltale ringing of a cell phone sounds out. Pete runs down the stairs as Finley holds up his ringing pants squealing, "Oh, come on, you couldn't even wait to get to your room to take off your pants?" Pete chases a squealing Finley over furniture and finally throws her on the couch as she answers his phone breathily, "Hello? Pete Komisky's office. One moment." Then she whinnies like a horse as Pete grabs the phone. "Hi, this is Pete. Eight o'clock? Great, I can make that." Finley whinnies and dances behind him, trying to get back the attention she had from him when he had her pinned on the couch. The doorbell rings as Pete hangs up (can you even say "hang up" anymore when referring to a cell phone?). "I'll bet that's her. Maybe she left her heart behind!" Finley flits to the door and Pete, grinning, continues the chase. She flings open the door to find two adults on the doorstep just as Pete throws his arm and half his naked chest around her. Finley shakes him off, "Mom. Dad. Hi," and closes her open robe. Pete gives the "Aw, crap" look and backs off. Okay, will someone please tell me whose, whose parents show up completely unannounced and by surprise?! ["Other than Felicity's, no one's." -- Wing Chun]
Totally different theme song from last week. Did anyone else notice that when the "D" and the "C" separated in the beginning it looked like "I.Q." for a split-second? Maybe it's just all the Harvard, Yale, Cornell tripe getting to me.
Pete's having fashion issues, and since his tumble-bunny Finley is nowhere to be seen, he makes a grab for Sarah, who mumbles through a mouthful of food, "If you want a ride, I'm leaving now!" Zach, I mean Pete, complains from his perch on the balcony, "You know, I don't think you understand. This job is for the State Department. You know the guys who keep the world safe for diplomacy? I've been angling for this shot since I came to D.C. I need your advice." Sarah consults her watch: "Okay, but make it quick." Pete presents her with his two options: "Okay, ah, solid. It says power and control, but it's a tie everyone else wears. Paisley bespeaks confidence, style, but it says I'm my own man, which might not be the man they're looking for." No, it doesn't. Paisley bespeaks Prince. As in Park, and the pattern on most of the Hot One's clothes. "Which tie says 'Pick me quick or I'm gonna lose my ride'?" Sarah asks impatiently. Pete glides down the stairs, "You know, if you are ever taken hostage in a foreign country, don't expect any help from me." If I were ever taken hostage in a foreign country and had to depend on Pete to get me out, I'd ask for both ties: One to hang myself with, and the other to try again if at first I didn't succeed. Personally, I think a bolo would best suit his personality.
