Question:
What special vocabulary words do I need to know as I translate your recaps into Standard English?
Answer:
The following terms will help you understand and enjoy the recaps more fully:
TMICam -- this refers to CSI's distinctive visual flair for giving a gaping wound or other biological element some sort of extreme close-up. The TMICam's greatest hits include non-motile sperm, puncture wounds, and giant abrasions on one's scalp. It is recommended that you all learn from me and avoid eating pepperoni pizza while the TMICam is in play.
Flashback Mode -- since many scenes in CSI are visual reconstructions of eyewitness accounts, and done in a highly stylized fashion that distorts sounds, adds a funky tint to the picture, or take place in fast or slow motion, it's simply easier for me to point out that we're in Flashback Mode than it is to go into all the different stylized quirks in the scene.
Squick factor -- highly non-scientific term for things that make me go, "Eeeeeeew."
The subplot sub-basement -- an off-screen location where some unlucky CSI, typically Nicky, is stashed when there are too many plotlines and not enough time.
