Previously on Boston Public: Jamal told Harry that his brother killed somebody; Jamal's brother did, in fact, kill somebody; Ronnie warned Jamal that he had to go forward with the information; Jamal did not want to give up his brother; Harry tried to convince Amaad but, instead of letting Harry call the police, Amaad adopted an alternative course, namely stabbing Harry three times with a knife.

We see the shot we saw last week, in which Amaad (whose name I will spell a different wrong way this time) sprints up the steps and out of the Dungeon. This time, however, we follow the shot up into the entrance hall of the school, where he sprints past Ronnie, who watches curiously as he heads out the front door. Then, her Spidey sense apparently tingling, she turns back to the stairs and heads down into the dungeon, walking reallyreallyslowly. She gets to Harry's room and goes in, and finds him bleeding and twitching on the desk. Horrified, she ignores the phone lying nearby, and screams, "Somebody help! Somebody help!" From the bottom floor. Of a school she knows is empty. Nobody helps.

Hospital Waiting Room. All the teachers from Winslow are sitting around, some napping, as they wait for news of Harry. Well, actually, it's all the teachers who are in the opening credits. In fact, in retrospect, does it make any sense that this is the group invited to Harry's surprise party? I mean, sure, these are the teachers who seem to know each other, but aren't some of them more or less enemies? And isn't it inappropriate for the principal to do special bonding activities with only part of his staff? Just asking. Anyhow, apparently, it's been almost two hours, and Ronnie wants someone to come out and tell them what's going on. Steven says, "The only people who know what's going on are in that room." Buh guh muh? Marla knows Harry's going to be okay.

Later. A doctor comes out, and the teachers circle up. He tells them that Harry is alive, to which they have no discernible reaction. Then he tells them that Harry lost a lot of blood, and is thus in the ICU, and that his condition will remain critical for at least two days. Also, he's not sure when Harry will regain consciousness. Ronnie bullies the doctor, who is reluctant to do so, into giving her a prognosis, and he says, "He's in rough shape. If he survives the night, that'll give me more hope." Steven says he's going to stay: "If he should die tonight, he's not gonna be alone. Now you give me a gown or whatever I need to sit by his bed." I am Steven and I! WILL! STAY! FRAAAARRR!!! Meanwhile, Irish Cop comes in and pulls Ronnie out of the room. Apparently, they can't find Amaad (new spelling, for a new generation), and Jamal isn't saying much to help them. Ronnie demands that the detective take her to Jamal. As she leaves, she passes Scott and Steven, who are deciding what should happen with school tomorrow. Steven thinks it's important that the school remain open, but he wants to stay with Harry: "Scott, I'm making you acting principal, can you do that?" Scott says okay, but he says it calmly, demurely, in a way that's really admirable. Steven tells him to call Bob "Big Boy" Lick and ask his opinion on whether they should have a special assembly tomorrow. Scott pats his shoulder and leaves.
