Mary-Ellis Bunim: Get your foot off of my dog's tail!
Jonathan Murray: What? What are you talking about? I'm nowhere near your dog.
Bunim: Yes, you are! My precious little Popsy is crying!
Murray: Your precious...oh, wait! That's not your dog! That's Lori!
Bunim: I said, get away from my baby!
Murray: But it's...never mind.
Lori tells Malik how nervous she is about singing with the band. Malik doesn't seem particularly interested. Someone pointed out in the forums that they always show Lori eating on the show, and sure enough, she's eating in this scene. In an interview, Lori explains that she is nervous because if the boys in the band don't see anything special, she feels like her career is over. Yes, musicians rarely have to face failure and rejection. Except, every day.
Everyone listens to music at work and chair-dances. Devin enters the room. In an interview, Malik explains that they have two different teams, because they are recruiting for two different focus groups. Kevin tells Devin that he and Malik have "twelve, solid" for the group. Lori says that she has ten definite, from the people she met at CBGBs. Mike is surprised, and Lori throws out that she's auditioning for a band, like anyone cares. Devin says that he's going home, and tells them not to stay too late. Lori wants to go home.
In a confessional, Mike says that he doesn't know how many people they will get for their focus groups, because people flake out. Malik, Kevin, and Mike walk through Central Park. Kevin jokes that Mike is going to steal people from their focus group and make them wear wigs so that they look like different people for his own group. They all say that they wish they could recruit people, but don't actually do any recruiting. Wow, it's fascinating to watch these guys walk around. If by "fascinating" you mean, "utterly and totally boring." Then again, they could be fighting about race relations, so I guess I shouldn't complain.
Nicole calls people to remind them about the focus group, while Quarrel and Lori watch. On the first phone call, Nicole says "Artista" instead of "Arista," and Quarrel and Lori start cracking up. After Nicole hangs up, Quarrel makes fun of her for the mispronunciation. Nicole points out that Quarrel mispronounced the company name, too. They argue about this interminably, and finally Nicole makes another call.
