Down in the ER, Nicole the paramedic is bringing in a guy who is complaining of tightness in his chest, possibly heart-related, possibly enchilada-related. Stephanie gets the guy's info and the paramedic, a friend of April's jilted groom, Matthew, suggests that if Steph is going to do any more "bowling for doctors" today that she should try to take out April. Stephanie doesn't even have time to react when, still pushing the gurney, she actually takes out Jackson. She looks mortified, but it must be very satisfying. "That'll work, too," says Nicole, and Stephanie becomes the unintentional hero of the ambulance crew.

Moments later in the exam room, Jackson doesn't quite believe she didn't do it on purpose. "Edwards, I'm about to take his pants off," Richard says, closing the curtain on her. "Go somewhere where you won't be a danger to others." April arrives out of nowhere and Jackson says he's fine, glancing at Stephanie when he explains he got hit by a gurney. She shoots Stephanie a look, who shoots one back and Stephanie leaves, to the cheers of the whole ER staff. She looks like she feels terrible about it, but you know, it's pretty awesome.

Upstairs, Mere is trying to talk to Owen about letting Alex do the liver surgery. He is, instead, busy reminding AZ that HR needs her statement, today. She says she'll go now, and asks Bailey to go and prep the liver kid, that she'll be back in time to get started. She suggests getting someone to assist and, because she's standing right there, Bailey picks Meredith! Poor Mere tries to backtrack, saying no, she was trying to get Owen to put Alex back on the surgery, but Owen shuts that down. "Karev's suspended, you're on it."

Mere goes to Derek's office to tell him of her accidental surgery stealing, nervous about having to tell Alex about it. "Well, I have to tell Torres that the President won't let her use my sensors anymore," he says. Mere senses an opening for an epic burn. "Just tell her you made a promise to her," she says, "but, instead, you're going to spend your time and energy on something else. It worked when you told me." Deliciously evil. She says, rightly, that he left himself wide open, adding that Callie's a grown-up who knows how research works and will understand. Derek says he's sure Alex will be understanding, as well. "Oh, no," Meredith says. "I'm not telling him!" Maybe not a bad plan. Incidentally, what is happening to the poor oompa loompa while this is being discussed? The kids eyes were the color of Sunny D! Get your asses in gear and get him into surgery.

In the ER, April asks if Jackson got to talk to Stephanie after the gurney incident. "No, I was on the floor," he says, adding that he's pretty sure she didn't do it on purpose. April, for her part, was going to talk to Matthew, but "Nicole said he quit, and then she called me a name so, that's all I know." She really wants Jackson to talk to Stephanie and apologize for both of them. He says he's trying, and walks away just as the kidney stalker returns. Desperate, she flags down Owen. "Dr. Hunt, uh, do we return donor organs to donors when their recipient passes on?" she asks, nervously. Owen plays along, saying no, there are very strict rules about it, and asks the poor guy why he wants it back. "It's the principle of the thing," the guys says. "These are not the terms of the agreement. I donated my organ for a purpose, to filter my buddy's pee or whatever it does! And now it's just gonna be discarded!" Owen cringingly asks if his other kidney is failing, or something, and the guy just gets more upset. "It could!" he says. April assures him that he's just fine. "Am I?" the dude asks, and both April and Owen fake emergency pages to escape, telling him once more that they're very sorry about the death of their friend.

Callie finds Arizona to bitch her out about "pressuring" Alyssa's dad to choose amputation for his daughter. Arizona denies pressuring anyone, saying she's not sure why Callie is so resistant, that she's done palliative amputations before. "Yeah, on a soldier, a grown man," Callie splutters, "not a child whose legs I have been trying to correct for three years." Arizona: "And failing! I'm sorry, it's true. And, honestly, I mean, before last year, I think you would have seen it." Callie accuses Arizona of making it about her, but she says no, it's about Alyssa. "I think that you're afraid to do this amputation," Arizona says, "and I'm afraid that that might be my fault." I am so excited that we might finally get the apology Callie so richly deserves for making the right decision to amputate Arizona's leg, but they are interrupted by the HR lady. Arizona joins her, walking by an office where Leah is giving her own statement.

Back in the PICU, Shane is using the paddles on the baby when Cristina rushes in yelling for him not shock him, as the baby's heart can't take defibrillation. Shane says he thought so, too, so decided to stabilize him with one timed shock in a certain rhythm medical jargon etc., and he thinks it… worked? Cristina is impressed, telling him it was a good call. They need to get the baby back in surgery, and book an OR.
