Dexter TV Show - One Big Happy - Dexter Photos & Videos, Dexter Reviews & Dexter Recaps | TWoP

Quinn tells the room that Rivera had sex with someone soon before she was killed, but as Dexter informs them, the DNA results didn't match anyone in their criminal databases. Quinn reminds us that the ME found no defensive wounds, and Dexter agrees that as such, she likely knew her killer. Matthews asks about the ex-boyfriend, but Quinn tells him he's been incarcerated for the past week, not to mention the fact that we already ruled out people with records, so shut up, Matthews. (That's me on that last part, not Quinn.) Angie pipes up that their workplace inquiries suggest Rivera was having an affair with the boss, "Ed Hamilton," and since his lawyer appeared immediately (I'm thinking a beach-clothes version of Saul from Breaking Bad), they've obtained a court order to get a DNA sample. Quinn tells Dexter he's going to need him, whereupon Batista appears in the doorway and announces that Thornton gave up Yates' name. We don't see Quinn, but I'd imagine he's going to have a little talk later with his boyfriend about interrupting. As Dexter looks a bit shifty, Batista says he's grabbing some munis and heading over…

…and then out in the hallway, Angie grabs Batista and says if he's still thinking about the Sergeant decision, she used to run briefings back in the gang unit and would love more responsibility. Continuing the trend of insincere tones, Batista's like, awesome, and it's cute how the show is still kind of trying with these characters, but they might want to give it up at this point. (Honestly, the only series regulars outside of Dexter and Deb the show ever managed to give any depth to, even in spurts, were Doakes and LaGuerta, and given what happened to them it's probably best not to bother.) But no – another tracking shot (i.e. a visually appealing timewaster; there is an assload of filler in this episode if you watch for it) leads us to Quinn, whom Matthews catches at the elevator and is all, Hamilton is a friend of MM, so proceed with all discretion, wink wink nudge nudge got it? You'd think Matthews might be forced to take a harder line on this sort of thing given the mess that got him fired, but I still don't understand how he got his job back so I might as well not ask.

Quinn, Angie, and Dexter, in the company of one of the maids who probably dished about Rivera and the boss, arrive at the pool area, where they find Hamilton working on a laptop, a plate of pastries in front of him. Is he going to eat all those? Because no way does he stay that thin at this age if he's scarfing down five croissants for breakfast. Come on, set dressers! Hamilton (the actor, John D'Aquino, once played Todd Gack on Seinfeld, if that means anything to you) reminds them he's not speaking to them, but Quinn and Angie smoothly inform him of the DNA and the warrant, and all the while Dexter's putting on his gloves and moving forward all THIS IS HAPPENING whether Hamilton consents or not, which is hilarious.
