When last we saw tenth floor resident Annie Morgan, she'd invented a vicious murderer to spice up an obituary. Unfortunately, she managed to speak that murderer into being and he showed up to try and kill her. Annie fled to Gavin for help and he told her to write just one more story: about how Henry's boss, the commissioner of city planning, is corrupt.

Gavin's machinations are less about luring Henry in and more about getting himself out of an inconvenient investigation from the city planner's office. This throws a little monkey wrench in his bromance with Henry, because Gavin acts all offended that Henry didn't tell him about the contaminated land from his deal two weeks ago, leaving Henry torn between his boss and his benefactor. But it all turns out for "the best" when Henry's boss gets arrested because of Annie's article (and Annie gets shot in the face, but whatever).

Jane figures out that Nona is the Drake thief and rather than turning her in, she pries into Nona's life. Turns out Nona's parents are dead and her grandmother is a wax model who sits in the corner and doesn't say anything. Nona is also somewhat psychic, but she either doesn't remember her visions after she has them or this is another thing she lies compulsively about.

Jane's supernatural encounters continue when she tries to open the filthy suitcase she brought up from the basement. A little ghost child comes with it and hides under the bed; inside the suitcase is a mysterious guy made of smoke, which is why you shouldn't bring dirty old suitcases into your bedroom! God, Jane, do you need everything explained to you?

Previously on 666 Park Avenue: Nona is a thief, Gavin is a murderer, there's a creepy ghost child living in the Drake and Jane brought a suitcase full of scary into her bedroom. Plus, Annie invented a mob hit man who broke into her apartment and that's why lying is bad.

Morning at the Drake. Tony has a fancy little cart full of newspapers to drop at everyone's doors. When he drops one in front of 9A, Kandinsky opens the door and picks it up, then turns back inside the apartment and says, "Let see what the great Annie Morgan has written today." The lying Ms. Morgan is tied to a chair in her living room, gagged. He reads aloud about how he's a ruthless mob killer whose face hasn't been seen for decades, then tells Annie he was lying low until he saw her article. "Somebody talked to you," he says, tugging down her gag. She swears that she made everything up, but stops talking when he gets a knife and threatens to cut out one of her eyes. She screams that the source was her boss, Ned. Kandinsky says Ned better tell him what he wants to hear or he'll cut out both of Annie's eyes.

Jane and Henry's. She's musing about how to do her hair for dinner the day with the mayor. He's distracted and upset because Edwards canceled his interview (on account of him being dead by smushing). Jane reassures him that he's going to have a great and successful career and as he walks backward to the bed he trips over the suitcase Jane brought up from the storage room. Let's ignore for a second that the suitcase is probably full of the evil that dwells within Gavin's soul or the severed fingers of former Drake residents -- that filthy thing has to have bedbugs. Henry thinks it's weird, but Jane wants to know what's inside. Probably tetanus. As they walk away, the locks on the suitcase start to turn on their own and the creepy little ghost girl, last seen confronting Jane in the hallway, is now hiding under Jane and Henry's bed.

Later, Jane is trying to pry open the suitcase locks when Olivia knocks and comes into the apartment. Jane offers her a drink, but Olivia wants to talk about the Drake thief. Olivia tells Jane to install cameras, hire a detective, and do whatever she needs to do to catch the thief. She also gives her some pointers on dinner with the mayor -- basically, don't act like a hillbilly. And maybe get your eyebrows tinted to match your hair? It looks so tacky. Olivia leaves, and the locks on the suitcase move again.

Nona's apartment. She's shoving things into laundry baskets and trash bags, vacuuming and setting out a plate of cookies. A woman she greets as Ingrid arrives, and says the apartment smells nice. Nona says her grandmother baked the cookies before she left. Ingrid is surprised that Grandma is not there, but Nona says she has a sick friend. Clearly Nona is a boxcar child and maybe has murdered her grandmother. A little later, she tells Ingrid she's reached a new place of calm and she's cured, so she doesn't need her sessions with Ingrid anymore. Ingrid though, wants to have a session with Nona's grandmother. Nona agrees and hustles her out. Ingrid hesitates at the door and says, "You know that I'm just trying to help you, right?" Nona hugs her, smiling angelically, then closes the door and puts on her enormous Bad-Girl Sunglasses. Indoors.

Gavin and Henry walk and talk. Gavin asks Henry what's going on with the job with Edwards and Henry tells him how Edwards blew him off. Gavin asks if Henry has given any more thought to running for office himself. Henry has, a lot, but right now he needs to focus on his job with the office of city planning. Gavin tells Henry that Henry's office is investigating Gavin, which Henry didn't know. Gavin says it's nothing to worry about, that it's probably one of his competitors trying to screw him. Henry offers to talk to the commissioner, but Gavin doesn't want him to do anything unethical (ha!) and says they shouldn't let the unpleasantness affect their relationship.

Annie's apartment. Annie manages to knock over the chair she's tied to and get herself untied.

Elevator. Jane compliments Nona on her Bad-Girl Sunglasses, which are obviously stolen. They exit the elevator and Ingrid is standing at Tony's desk. She asks Nona if she left her sunglasses in her apartment. Nona insists she did not. "And the Drake thief strikes again," Tony observes. Jane says they don't know the sunglasses were stolen and introduces herself to Ingrid. Nona explains who Ingrid is, and Jane looks distinctly uncomfortable as she says, "Everyone in New York is in therapy, right?" Left unsaid is her Midwestern disdain for feelings. Tony confirms: "Daddy issues. Twice a week." Jane asks Ingrid what the sunglasses look like and says she'll keep an eye out. Ingrid describes the ones Nona was wearing and gives Jane her card.

Annie runs down the street and to Ned's building, ringing the buzzer and calling him. She hears a phone ringing and as she walks down the stairs, she finds blood on the railing. Kandinsky's knife from earlier is on the ground, and under some newspapers Annie finds Ned's bloody body. Her phone rings and Kandinsky says, "I had fun with your friend. You're a very bad girl. You lied. You're ." If only I could give the smallest damn whether Annie ends up in the Hudson.

Jane knocks on 10C and asks Nona if she can speak with her grandmother. Nona says she's in Atlantic City playing slots. Jane asks if Nona recognizes the stuff on the missing posters, and Nona says she doesn't, but then Jane drops her pretense and tells Nona to hand over the loot. When Nona hesitates, Jane says she'll just schedule a meeting with Nona's grandmother and Olivia, which seems to alarm Nona, because she says she didn't take Jane's grandmother's necklace, but she has the other stuff.

Henry's office. Commissioner Pike calls Henry into his office to meet ADA Regina Wilson, who's there to talk to him about the Alpern deal. Wilson asks him if he shared the information about the ground being toxic with anyone, and Pike recaps how Gavin bought the land then sold it to a group of Chinese investors before the environmental report came out. Wilson tosses some photos of Henry and Gavin together on the table.

Henry says he hasn't done anything illegal or unethical (and doesn't tell them the perfectly logical explanation for him being seen with Gavin), but Wilson says Gavin has a source in the office and it appears to be Henry. She says he'll lose his job and be disbarred if he gave that information to Gavin. He protests that he's innocent.

Wilson says Henry can use his access to Gavin to get her information that will send Gavin to jail. Henry says he won't, but Wilson tells him to think about it. She and Pike don't want to ruin Henry's life, "but we will," she says nonchalantly.

Henry and Jane's apartment. Jane is still fiddling with the locks on the suitcase, although the thing looks so fragile she could just pull the lock away from the fabric. She hears a noise and goes into the other room, then jumps out of her skin when faced with the creepy ghost child. Casperette shushes Jane and says, "He'll hear me." Jane asks who she's worried about and the girl doesn't answer, just looks at the suitcase. She disappears. And Jane, who is a genius, decides to stash the box o' horror in her closet, rather than putting it back in the basement or setting it on fire or dunking it in holy water or oh my god, this is so stupid. The locks move again, of course.

Penthouse. Olivia is instructing Henry that he and Jane must ride to the mayor's house with them the night rather than taking the subway. Henry protests that he and Jane might have dinner plans beforehand (but they're going to the mayor's for dinner...?). Olivia leaves them to talk. Gavin can tell Henry is troubled about something and Henry starts by saying that he appreciates what Gavin has done for him, but they shouldn't socialize while his office is investigating Gavin. Gavin says Henry doesn't have anything to worry about and the investigation is a charade. Henry says he's sure Gavin is innocent, and Gavin continues that Pike is just using Henry to get to Gavin and advance his own career. He says Pike has been lining his pockets with bribes and everyone in New York knows it. Henry asks why Gavin has chosen to be so generous with Henry and Jane.

Henry starts to see some of the connections, that Gavin wanted Henry to tell him about the contaminated soil at the Alpern site, and it was a test. On Gavin's laptop screen Henry sees a document titled "Greenpoint Towers." Gavin tells him to sit down and have a drink. Henry mutters, "I'm such an idiot," and turns to leave. Gavin yells after him, "If you walk through that door, things change!" Henry leaves. Olivia comes in and says maybe it's time to cut their losses with Henry, and Gavin looks particularly Mephistophelian as he's all, I'll do what I have to do.

Jane waits for Ingrid at her building to return her sunglasses (what is with everyone on this show knowing where strangers and coworkers live?). Ingrid thanks her, and Jane asks her about Nona. Ingrid says she can't discuss her patients and Jane says, "I don't want to know her secrets, I just want to know more." Which seems like a really weird way to phrase it if you're trying to pry information out of someone. Ingrid says Nona's parents were killed in an accident a year and a half ago and from what she can tell; Nona's grandmother is never around. Jane decides to be all confessional and tell Ingrid about how her mother died and her father was distant, and Ingrid's like, I didn't like the sunglasses this much. Ingrid says Nona needs someone she can trust, so maybe Jane can help her. All of this is why I don't talk to my neighbors.

Annie meets Gavin in DUMBO (I know it's a lovely backdrop, show, but why would they go all the way there?) and tells him what she did and asks for help. Gavin says he can make Kandinsky go away, but she needs to write an article about the corrupt city planning commission. Annie doesn't want anyone else to get hurt, except for maybe her makeup artist, who has caked the foundation on her forehead to cover up an unfortunate skin situation in a way that is truly unsettling in HD, and Gavin assures her "no innocent lives will be lost." He tells her he'll give her what she needs to know and Kandinsky will never bother her again.

Lobby. Olivia tells Tony she's going out and he should have the car outside at seven. Tony catches her and gives back her diamond brooch. She asks if Jane caught the thief and he says no, he just found a bag of stuff on his desk. Further evidence that Jane is a dumbass. Who leaves a bag of valuables in plain sight in a heavily trafficked area? Olivia leaves, passing Henry, who was checking his mail. He goes to the elevator and uses a key to go up to the penthouse. Hmm. How'd he get that? He walks in and heads for Gavin's office. He copies the Greenpoint Towers document onto a flash drive, and then sees another document titled with his and Jane's names. The elevator dings and Olivia comes back in. Henry copies the other file as well, grabs the flash drive (leaving behind the little end cover), and runs for the fire escape when Olivia leaves the room. He clatters down the stairs, and then notices he forgot the cap for the flash drive. This is why people use cloud storage, dumb-dumb.

Jane and Henry's. She's asking what he thinks of her outfit and he's staring conflictedly at the flash drive. She asks if he's met Nona's grandmother. No, because Nona hacked her up and shoved her into that suitcase in your closet! Jane says Nona reminds her of herself at fourteen, lonely and angry at the world. Henry tucks the flash drive away in his pocket and asks if they can skip the big to-do and just go watch the game at a bar. Jane can't believe he'd want to miss out on going to the mayor's house, but he says he's kidding. She goes to the closet to stare at the suitcase, which is fiddling itself around again, then they leave.

In the elevator they run into Nona, who says she guesses Jane told Henry that Nona is the thief. Henry says she didn't and Jane confirms that she won't tell anyone unless other things start disappearing. Nona thanks them, then stumbles as she's getting off the elevator and grabs Henry's wrist. I'd forgotten that Nona has the sight or something, because she gets black-and-white flashes of Henry getting shot in the chest. Henry asks if she's okay, and she says she is. Henry goes to get a cab and Nona tells Jane to keep Henry away from the man with the compass tattoo.

Gracie Mansion, because in this universe the mayor of New York isn't a Gavin Doran-style bazillionaire. Jane is nervous, but Henry tells her to chill and enjoy the freebies.

Lobby. Tony gets on the elevator with some packages. He brings a box to the third floor, then stops outside Jane and Henry's door because he hears the High-Pitched Tinkly Music of Impending Evil. He uses his key to get into Jane and Henry's apartment -- reason number a billion I don't want to live in a doorman building -- and walks into their bedroom. He opens the closet door and pulls down the suitcase, putting it on the bed (EW!). When he opens it, thick black smoke pours out. The little ghost girl is under the bed again. The smoke crawls across the floor and builds up into a shape as tall as Tony -- and then Tony is standing outside the door of 3B, confused. He picks up the box he was delivering and continues on his way.

Annie's Office of Lies. She's typing up her article on how the city planning commissioner has ties to the mob and sends it in. She calls Gavin, who's at the mayor's shindig and tells him she just sent it to her editor (who is dead?). Gavin says she'll never see Kandinsky again.

He goes over to Henry and snarks that Henry doesn't need to greet him, in case they're being watched. Henry says he won't apologize for trying to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. Gavin opens his hand to show the flash drive cap and says, "You forgot this." Henry silently puts it in his pocket. He finds Jane and is about to tell her they should skedaddle and then Olivia appears, saying that Henry sure has some brass ones for showing up after what he's done to Gavin. Jane is confused, because Jane is a simpleton.

Henry pulls Jane aside and explains what's been going on, that he's not sure who's clean and who's not. Jane asks what he's going to do. He doesn't know and is afraid that he'll lose his job and have to go back to Indiana (first in friendship, fourth in obesity!) and zone strip malls. Jane's all, I have become accustomed to the high life, sir! Make it work! She tells Henry he's his own man and he should do what's right. As long as it keeps her in vintage consignment dresses.

Annie's office. A coworker comes into the kitchen and says she read Annie's article and that Pike is really in trouble. Annie says yeah, he'll probably go to jail. But coworker has seen an episode or two of Law & Order and says no way will the mob let him talk to the cops; they'll sic Kandinsky on him. She leaves and Annie actually says, "Oh no, what have I done?" Ugh. Please die already.

Mayor's party. Pike excuses himself from a conversation and approaches Henry. He asks if there's something they need to talk about. Henry says he has the file on Gavin. Olivia and Gavin watch malevolently from across the room. Henry continues that he decided not to look at the file, and he won't give it to Pike. He says he's not going to compromise himself. Pike threatens to ruin Henry, tells him he'll lose everything. "Not everything," Henry says.

Annie arrives at the party, and the cops let her in after she shows them a big card that just says PRESS. I suppose if she'd remembered to tuck it in the band of her fedora they wouldn't have even stopped her. Across the room, Pike fires Henry. Then everyone's phones all start ringing all at once and it's Annie's story being emailed to every single one of them. Sure, that happens. Henry reads the headline and says to Pike, "Gavin was right. You're a crook."

A waiter bumps into Jane, and when she says, "Excuse me," she notices the compass tattoo on the inside of his wrist. It's Kandinsky, who's pushing through the crowd. He pulls a gun out of his waistband. Jane screams Henry's name. Henry tackles Pike as Kandinsky fires and people start running and shoving and screaming. Kandinsky aims at Pike again and Henry hits him with a tray, knocking him out. All the commotion dies down and everyone just stares at each other for a while, then they notice Annie lying on the floor, shot in the head. Olivia makes a worried face and looks up at Gavin, who's gotten himself on the second floor, so he can look down on everyone over a balcony.

The Drake. Henry and Jane lumber home dourly. Tony greets them and they tell him about Annie. They head upstairs, followed by Gavin and Olivia, who look serene and unbothered, even though this is at least the third death of one of their tenants in a few months. Olivia tells Gavin and Henry to go up and she and Jane will take another elevator. Henry tells Gavin he was right and apologizes for doubting him. Gavin smugly accepts his apology and gratitude.

Olivia tells Jane that tonight reminds them not to take anything for granted. She mentions Jane catching the thief, and Jane thanks her, then goes up to 10C. She tells Nona that Henry's fine and Nona says she doesn't have a clue what Jane is talking about. Nona tells her to go downstairs and sleep it off. Jane says she knows being different can be scary, and that she's there if Nona wants to talk. Nona shuts the door and walks back into the apartment saying, "I shouldn't have warned her." She tells a motionless, silent woman in a wheelchair, "I think I can trust her, Grandma. And maybe she can help you." I still think Grandma is a wax figurine.

Henry throws the flash drive in the fire, which seems like a needlessly elaborate method of disposal. Jane comes over and sits to him. She says he should have told her about his problems with Pike and Gavin, and he says he just wanted to protect her. They stare at the fire.

Cops lead Pike out of Gracie Mansion in handcuffs while a body bag is zipped up over Annie's face. On their terrace, Gavin and Olivia drink brandies. He says he got a call that the investigation into him has been suspended, since Pike is now being indicted. "Sometimes I forget you can do magic," Olivia says. Not magic. Evil.

Nona puts a blanket around Wax Grandma's shoulders. Cops also arrest Kandinsky. Jane and Henry lie in bed and he sleepily asks how Jane knew something was wrong when she shouted his name. She says she must have a sixth sense when it comes to him.

Nona hangs Jane's necklace on the door of 3B. Inside, black smoke creeps across the floor and takes the form of a man, who stares at the sleeping couple.

time: The little ghost girl says, "He got out." Brian and Louise get trapped in the elevator, a guy in a gas mask grabs Olivia, and the smoke man tries to kill Jane.
