Episode Report Card Erin: A+ | Grade It Now! YOU GRADE IT The Future's So Blight, I Gotta Wear Hades

By Erin | Season 1 | Episode 20 | Aired on 04.29.2007

Claire says she's been hiding for five years all over the country, and her father says that he brought her back to Midland. "Only after Mom left," she snips. Aw. That's sad. I would have thought they'd stay together through thick and thin! Claire's quip about her mother seems to hurt Bennet a bit and he says that he only wanted to keep Claire safe. A TV program in the distance announces that over two hundred undocumented Heroes have been rounded up in a coordinated sweep. It's been cited as the department of Homeland Security's most successful operation since the Linderman Act was passed four years ago. Nice little bit of continuity there, showing that Nathan and Linderman were actually partnered up back then. Claire looks up at the screen and then back at her father. "Enjoy your pie," she says, her voice dripping with disgust. But she grabs the bag he brought, so it appears she's going to listen to him about leaving town.

Future Hiro and Ando are watching the same TV program back at Primatech. Future Hiro is running down the roster of Heroes who are supposed to be helping them get Hiro out of custody -- D.L. can phase into the building and Candice can create illusions to distract the guards. Ando's all, "Hey, what about ME? What do I do, huh?" Future Hiro's like, "Just sit there and look pretty, okay? Oh, and get me a soda -- time travel is thirsty work, man!" But what Ando really wants to know is what is he doing NOW, like, in life, in the future. Is he married? Is he rich? Future Hiro refuses to tell him that because, well, time is a funny thing, dude. "The time-space continuum might implode because you were impatient!" Future Hiro says with a small smile. "So... my friend is still in there?" asks Ando. Future Hiro nods at him and starts to say, "There's something I need to tell you --" But Matt bursts into the room and tasers poor Future Hiro. The room fills with cops, one of whom grabs Ando.

Parkman walks up to Future Hiro and grabs his face, remarking that they already caught him, so what the hell is he doing there now? Just as he comes to the realization that Hiro really can travel through time, Peter materializes in the room, TKs a couple of guards, and stops time. He grabs Hiro's sword and gives a hatred-filled look to Parkman. Then he puts a hand on Future Hiro and a hand on Ando and teleports them the hell outta there. Awesome. Just an awesome scene altogether. It's really short, but it's supremely well done. And I don't even mind how much they're making Peter look like Neo with the long preacher's coat and everything. Don't mind at all!

After the break, we see Bennet, walking through Primatech, surveying the damage. "Your friends got away," Matt says snidely. "If they were my friends," says Bennet, "I wouldn't have called you, Matt." Oh, no. So Bennet's working with the bad good guys? Or the good bad guys? Or the... I have no idea. Bennet says that their deal was that he would turn the government onto the dangerous refugees and leave him alone to help the harmless ones. Matt says that it doesn't help that they're both harboring children of interest, only his isn't the president's daughter. Bennet says that Claire is getting married, and Matt throws him a half-hearted "mazel tov." Then he asks if Bennet's heard anything from Matt's wife Janice, and Bennet wordlessly hands him an envelope. Inside is a child's drawing of Janice and Matt's son, Matthew.
