The next to compete are Anna Demidova, who is the current US National Ballroom Champion, and she's very Russian. Her partner is Mayo Alanen, who is a little weird looking. He looks like he's carved out of wax. They'll be doing the waltz together. They're friends, but they've never danced together. As their waltz begins, Anna has a lot of diamond jewelry on. I think she borrowed a diamond headdress from that one singer in the band who always wears sparkly head gear. I don't like Mayo. He reminds me of Crispin Glover in Charlie's Angels. Creepy. I could get behind Anna though, although don't we already have a Russian Anna spitfire on the show? Does this mean she's not coming back? Anyway, Anna is the only one who's shown much personality so far. You can't really judge their dances, because they're all really awesome.
Carrie Ann thinks it was beautiful. She likes Mayo's "distinguished character" and Anna's understated star quality. Len loved the whole routine; he thinks they did well because they're tall, but would love to see their Latin. Bruno thought it was classic, and loved Mayo's elegant lines. He says something to Anna that I don't understand. Maybe that she's dazzling? Or that she used a bedazzler? Backstage, Anna is all sweet, and I wish she'd be as spunky as she was in her opening package. Mayo is still made of wax.
The next couple is Snow Urbin, who's done music videos and whatnot. I'm kind of against her already because her name is Snow. Her partner is Genya Mazo, Alec's brother. In rehearsals, Snow and Genya tangle a little bit because they both have strong ideas about the routine. Okay, so turns out I still hate Snow but I kind of dig Genya. I don't know if it's the Alec connection or what. Bruno says he's a strong performer with good technique, and he enhances his partner, which is really important on this show. Bruno tells Snow that she's hot like fire. Carrie Ann loves that Genya was really supportive of his partner too. Len thought Genya looked really masculine and Snow had passion and romance. Backstage, Genya jokes that he got hit in the mouth by Snow during the routine, and it was kind of like their rehearsals. He's joking, but I think they really don't like each other. Just a vibe. So by the time you read this, voting will be over, but two will be eliminated next week. I kind of dig this competition, although I don't think we know enough about any of them to judge who would be a good pro; they should have to teach a beginner how to do a dance or something.
