Episode Report Card M. Giant: B- | Grade It Now! YOU GRADE IT Die Hard At CTU
By M. Giant | Season 6 | Episode 21 | Aired on 05.06.2007
Unaware that they're about to be attacked, Milo comes up to Nadia and says that they're not getting very far in figuring out which way Cheng went from Bloomfield. He asks if there's any new word from Doyle yet. Nadia tells him that Doyle's men are still doing their forensic sweep, and will call in soon. She asks if there's anything else on Milo's mind. Clearly there is, aside from the awful rug he's sporting this hour, but he just says "never mind" and walks away. Which, in this case, is the astronomical distance of about four feet. Nadia comes up to him and brings up the Doyle thing (ew, I just grossed myself out). Milo acts ten kinds of awkward as he says he understands if Nadia has feelings for Doyle. Big of him. Seriously. I wouldn't understand that myself, and I'm not the one who's supposedly getting thrown over. Nadia waits for Milo to finish stuttering, and then admits that she doesn't know what she feels. Well, snap it up, lady! You've known Doyle for hours! She asks Milo for some time to sort things out. I'm prepared to give her three hours and nineteen minutes.
Whatever Milo's response was going to be, it's interrupted when Chloe calls over to report that she's found some blurry, fifty-minute-old infrared satellite footage of a bunch of guys leaving Bloomfield in SUVs. Nadia tells Milo to give the LAPD descriptions of the vehicles, and I'm sad to say that we won't get to hear Milo on the phone with an impatient dispatcher saying, "The suspects are driving several green, glowing blobs." Nadia tries to call Doyle on her headset, but there's nobody there. That's because Cheng has had all of CTU's comm systems shut down remotely. This is probably connected to the fact that Zhao and his men are blowing open the grate that will give them access to CTU from the sewer.
Up on the main floor, it's 2:42:06 as Milo complains that he can't get an outside line. Morris thinks it might be "a hiccup in the server." That's why he gets paid the big analyst bucks. Milo answers a ringing phone, and we know things are fucked up when it doesn't do the trademark CTU ring. The commandos climb out of the sewers. And Morris discovers that whatever's up with the servers, it's a lot more than a hiccup. And the commandos get set up in the CTU basement, while Cheng watches live remote video feeds from every camera in CTU. "Hey, that's the room where I first met Kiefer and he lied to me," he says in Mandarin.
Even though everything else in the building is down, Chloe is still able to satellite-track Cheng's vehicles to...six blocks away. Milo hangs up the phone and, with more annoyance than worry, says that every security camera in CTU went down at once. Could these facts be related? Nadia finally gets it, and orders Chloe, "Code red emergency lockdown!" A bit late.
