I'm tempted to give "The Tower" an A+, simply because we FINALLY get to see Princess Emma in a gown, but I am not that easy, Show. Yes, I am easy, but I'm not cheap. And no, even those brief seconds of Daddy/Daughter dancing can't change my mind. (Had she been gowned for the first five minutes though, that's another story....)

In the enchanted past of approximately, let's say, eight months ago, Prince David wakes up after a panic dream (been there, done that, Charming), featuring a ball-gowned Emma, who -- before being sucked into the magical wardrobe -- tells him he failed her, and warns him not to fail the next one. David wakes, only to learn Snow is pregnant.

Off a tip from Robin Hood, Charming sets out in search of nightroot, to calm his nerves. As a person who suffers panic attacks, I feel your pain, Charming, but I wouldn't be digging up edelweiss root to quell them. That's why God made Ativan. Charming does, though, and that's when he hears Rapunzel's cries for help.

Charming finds Rapunzel locked in a tower. The witch who is imprisoning her, is somehow (or somehow takes the form of) Rapunzel's own fears, and said fears adopt Rapunzel's visage. David miraculously (I mean c'mon, he's pretty, but that's about it) puzzles this out and tells the imprisoned princess that she must face her fears. Rapunzel chops off her over-extended locks and defeats the "witch."

In the enchanted present, while Emma and Hook try to figure out who broke into Regina's office, Snow hires Zelena as her midwife/doula. Zelena promptly slips a mickey into Charming's tea.

When drugged David flies off to help Emma hunt down Wicked, he encounters himself in the woods. It is only by facing his fears that he defeats his foe, but in the defeating, first the blade of his sword disappears, and then the hilt. Regina fears Wicked has stolen David's courage.

Eventually, Emma, Charming, Hook, and Regina make their way to the farm house featured last week, and more importantly, its storm cellar. By the time they get there, it is empty. As our brain trust scopes out the place, David (I know!) puts it all together, thanks to a blade of straw which has been spun into gold.

I'll be back with the recap, ASAP. In the meantime, please grade the episode up top, and then join us on the boards, where we've got the noive
