Clip package of how the pros put together routines on top of their competition routines. As you can imagine, they all want to have input into the choreography, and they have a hard time finding a day and time when they can all rehearse together. And sometimes people screw around during rehearsal. They also work hard to find the right costumes. But they all agree that dancing for the love of dancing, instead of for scores, is exhilarating and there's nothing like it. This was one of my favorite clip packages so far -- I love the behind-the-scenes stuff. I wish they would take one pro dance and go through and show us how it came together from conception through rehearsal and choreography to the final performance.
They pretend like they're going to tell us who's going home next, but come on. There's way too much time left in the show for that. So it's to the commercial break first. Okay, now that the commercials are done, NOW they will tell us if Joanna is going home or if Kelly is going home. Samantha reminds us that these are not necessarily the bottom two. Len says that Kelly has entered all of their hearts, and Joanna has been the most consistent (really?), and he thinks whoever goes will be missed. Joanna blows another kiss, which she really needs to stop doing. So who's going home? Joanna and Derek. NO shocker. Kelly has a way bigger fanbase. I think Derek's fans have carried Joanna a few weeks further than she would have gotten otherwise.
Joanna says all the right things in her final interview -- that she's grown as a person, that she appreciates the opportunity, and that she had a great partner. Instead of the lame final dance they usually do, Joanna and Derek are going to do their Viennese waltz from last night once again. It really is a beautiful dance, even if they kind of massacre "Hallelujah" and I think screwed up the lyrics (isn't it "major lift" not "major fifth"?). Anyway, I kind of dig the final performance to say goodbye but they usually don't leave enough time. So on to the finals next week!
