Rory asks Philllipppe why he'd tell Paris that. He says he didn't know it was a secret. She asks what's wrong with him. He tells her to relax. He says that he gave it a try like she asked and it didn't work out. Rory says that one date isn't giving it a try. She says that this was a big deal for Paris. He says he understands that Paris is upset, but it's not fair to her for him to date her if he likes someone else. Rory says, "So. You're still not over Summer, huh?" Philllipppe looks at her for a moment and says, "Yeah, I'm not over Summer yet." He leaves and Rory stands there for a second before she realizes she's the someone else. She looks around and squints for a while.
Lorelai shows up for high tea. Emily is at the table by herself. Lorelai asks where Trix is. Emily assumes she's torturing a bathroom attendant somewhere. Lorelai sits down. She says this place seems clean. Emily says it's famous for its cleanliness. Emily asks if Rory was excited when Lorelai told her about the money. Lorelai says she was. She starts talking about the "rose tea" on the menu, laughing that it's not really tea at all. Emily asks what Rory said when she found out. Lorelai says she was happy. She did an "air lasso" thing. Emily asks Lorelai to be serious. Lorelai admits that Rory was asleep when she got home so she doesn't know yet. "Well!" Emily says. "Something I said must have really struck a chord with you." She says if Lorelai didn't tell Rory she must have had a reason. Lorelai says that Rory was asleep. Emily says that Lorelai must have reconsidered. Lorelai says she didn't. She says it's a little weird. She asks Emily to stop talking. Lorelai: "This is just like you to take something really great and twist it into something really ugly. Why do you do that? What is wrong with you?" Emily says there's nothing wrong with her. Lorelai says she should be studied. Emily says she respects Lorelai's decision. Lorelai says she didn't make a decision. Lorelai says she's going to call Rory right now. She digs out her cell phone and starts flailing it around the room. Emily asks what she's doing. Lorelai says the reception sucks in that room. Emily tells Lorelai to stop. "You look like you're having a fit." Lorelai puts the phone away and says she's going to find a pay phone. Emily grabs her arm and sits her back down. She says that Trix will be back any second. She tells Lorelai to have a sandwich. Lorelai asks if "Have a sandwich" is all she has to say to her. Emily asks what she should say. Lorelai says, "I want you to say that you are sorry you tried to talk to me out of taking this money. That you realize that you are just being petty and controlling and mean and that you know there is no amount of money that can change the relationship Rory and I have. That's what I want you to say. Say that." Emily says she won't say that. Lorelai says she'd better say it or she's finding a pay phone.
